One Word Film Project
For this project, we were to create a 60-90 second video to describe a specific word. The video could not include sound and it needed to have some of the techniques we have learned about during class. Each pair was given a word at random.
Due to the fact that our assigned word was remorse, we came up with a story to represent that word. My partner and I both brainstormed ideas and found the best fit story. (A quick summary of our video: Two friends are in class. The main character forgot to bring her calculator for a test and stole one from her friend. After seeing her friend anxiously try to look for it, she remorsefully returns the calculator and takes the test without it.) After we created the outline, we planned out our shots by making a storyboard. This was extremely helpful for us to get a better visualization of what types of scenes we wanted to film in the project. We created different ways to incorporate some techniques from our past lessons into our video. For example, we used many two shots because our story mostly revolves around two characters and their relationship. After filming all of the scenes, we used Adobe Express to edit all of the shots together and finished the project.
I believe my partner and I managed our time very well when shooting. It took one class period to film, and another class period to edit. Although some of the editing could have been improved, such as the zooming on the school board, I think we did a great job in connecting all of the scenes together where it makes sense. We filmed all of the types of shots correctly and it is easy to recognize which techniques are being used. Overall, this project was a success as we were able to create a story that can certainly understandable by anyone who views it.
